Southport Rugby Club was founded in 1872, making it one of the oldest clubs still in existence. To celebrate this we are having a day of period rugby fun with our guests Yarnbury RFC, who were also founded in 1872.

There will be a series of matches, a tug-of-war, barbecue, raffles, games etc. throughout the day.

All players are requested to wear period costumes of this era, both playing (black tracksuit bottoms cut 6 inches below the knee, socks tucked in) and before and after match.

Yarnbury RFC are bringing over 170 people to this event, so we would like this to be well supported by ourselves and show our honoured guests what fine hosts we can be!

The fun kicks off with a celebrity opening at 12:00 noon on Saturday 10th May 2008 at the club on Waterloo Road .
